Benchmarking
Benchmark with present available cars in market for the following case.
Mr.D.S. Pughazhyendhii is a married man who lives in Bangalore which is a highly crowded city. His Family comprises of five members including his wife, five-year-old boy, his father and mother. He visits his native place Madurai which is 500kms away from Bangalore once in a month. Also, he will be using his car to commute to his office. His budget falls between 8 to 10 lakhs on road. Please suggest him with options so that he will buy a good car for his family. (Note: Pughazhyendhii is fond of big cars)
Things to consider in above benchmarking:
- Mostly driving in city, occasionally will go long trip.
- Need to consider good mileage car because of city ride.
- He needs spacious and 5 seater car.
- He may need child safety in his car.
- Need to consider car safety features, due to long travel along with his family.
Other Consideration:
1.Car body type
He first chooses his car body type. My suggestion he should pick a sedan, cross-over or Compact-SUV.
2.Engine
Considering the BS norms, he should choose Petrol engine due to the less pollution and less maintenance cost over diesel engine.
3.What type of driving do you do? Is it primarily highway, surface streets, off-road?
If possible he should choose AMT car over manual gear box due to the more traffic issues in Bangalore.
4.What safety features are important to you? Do you want Air bag, blind-spot monitoring, lane departure warning and automatic emergency braking, for example?
He needs basic safety features like air bag, rear parking camera and etc., he expect more safety features under 8~10 lakh on-road price.
5.How much boot space do you need?
when he travels along with his family, He obviously needs more boot space best in market. So he will may choose Cross-over or compact SUV or mid-size sedan car.
6.How much garage or parking space do you have?
This is most important thing, he should know his parking space in his apartment or house. He can choose 4m car, it is smaller and he don’t need to pay extra tax. So he would prefer mini/compact SUV or cross-over.
