Benchmarking
BENCHMARKING
Benchmarking is the practice of comparing business process and perfomance metric to industry bests and best practices from other companies. In the process of best practice benchmarking, management identifies the best firms in their industry, or in another industry where similar processes exist, and compares the results and processes of those studied (the "targets") to one's own results and processes. In this way, they learn how well the targets perform and, more importantly, the business processes that explain why these firms are successful.
BENCHMARKING 1 (PRODUCT LEVEL ):
Product performance benchmarks are the reference points used for comparing your product to others. As in other spheres of Comparison, percentiles are often used to describe how well or how poorly your product is performing in particular KPIs relative To products of similar size and vertical.
In order for product measurement to be useful, there needs to be meaning behind the numbers. By comparing perfomance to industry standards , a company can better understand relative performance, including where they have a competitive advantage as well as any areas for improvement .
BENCHMARKING 2 ( PART LEVEL ) :
Benchmarking 2 is the detail report of benchmarking 1. In this stage the BIW engineers have concentrate in part of the object briefly which they have to improve . Part level benchmarking have the analysis report which includes material, thickness, number of parts, total weight .
In this stage the BIW engineers not only study their own parts but also study the parent parts and the competitors parts. from which he conclude how the material is , if the material satisfies the requirements or not , how to reduce thee parts and how to reduce the total weight of the whole product .
