backward_facing_step_flow

  • In this simulation we use different base grids to simulate the backward_facing_flow.
  • More number of cells gives precise and accurate results.
  • when we observe the mass_flow_rate graphs of both inlet and outlet remains same, because the mass entering and leaving is conserved in nature.
  • In total-pressure plot,at inlet the total pressure is the actual pressure and it is steady in nature but in outlet there is a very slightly tilt in the graph due to recirculation effect.
  • In static_pressure plot,at inlet is very low due to the increase in dynamic pressure leads to the faster movement of molecules, but in specimen there is an sudden enlargement in area leads to the increase in static_pressure and it steady till the outlet.
  • In velocity plot,up to the sudden enlargement area the value is high but after enlargement area there is an increase and it steady in nature due to the molecules are acheiving rest .
  • One interesting thing we need to observe from this simulation, although at the site of sudden enlargement the molecules are moving with some velocity and random due to the recirculation effect.Kindly go through the below link to see the simulation of different base grids.
