Assignment 7

Objective: To explore tutorial number 9 and build FRM Model for following configuration using FRM builder approach

    • Bore 102 mm stroke 115 mm CR 17
    • No of cylinder 6
    • CI engine
    • Twin Scroll Turbine
    • GT Controller

Tutorial Number 9 :

Step 1:

The given model is the baseline model for a 4 cylinder Turbocharged GDI engine.

The FRM model for the above engine is constructed in 8 steps as follows:

Step 2:

The After -treatment system is converted into a FLowSplit General template.

Step 3:

The intake manifold is converted into single FlowSplit general template.

Step 4:

The compressor unit circuit is converted into a single template in Step 4.

Step 5:

The circuit showing the input from the environment is converted into a template using FRM builder.

Step 6:

The exhaust system is converted into a single output throttle eliminating seperate circuit for each exhaust valve in FRM.

Step 7 and Step 8:

RLT creator is done in the place of Monitor Signal.

A CompressorMapParam template is used to generate a fully extrapolated from a single design point using a set of physically based parametric equations.

In the exhaust system a basic turbocharger exhuast manifold is used.

FRM Model :

The FRM model contructed is for the given dimensions. The FRM builder was used for this purpose.

The FRM model is the simplified version and divides the engine into several independent templates.

Case Setup:

In the given case setup, first 6 cases are selected for running.

Results:

The mean piston velocity values are decreasing with decrease in engine speed.

The Brake Power decreases with decrease in RPM. On the other hand, the Brake Torque is increasing with decrease in engine speed. At low RPM values, the FMEP values are decreasing.
