Assignment 7
Explore tutorial number 9 and write a detailed report
FAST RUNNING MODEL
GASOLINE DIRECT INJECTION MODEL
Step 1: It is a detailed model and its intake manifold and exhaust manifold are discretized and it take more simulation time and step size for calculation
TAURBOCHARGER MODEL: Compressor template is used to generate fully extrapolated compressor map which get from supplier and made a physical based model and same for turbine model
Torque part used to model turbo total bearing friction torque when doing this the turbine map efficiency data should only include thermodynamic efficiency. Same turbine map efficiency calculation includes bearing losses
Model based waste gate controller is used to vary the turbine waste gate to achieve a desired BMEP for each operating point
IT has intercooler detailed model and it has intercooler eff compound template is used to calculate the intercooler outlet temperature based on input mass flow vs heat transfer effectiveness data
The intercooler pipe wall temperature and increasing the intercooler pipe heat transfer multiplier
It has detailed after treatment model three way catalytic converter and exhaust pipe
Step 2 : The after treatment model total volume is reduced in to single volume and total surface area is specified and boundary data is specified
Step3 : The intake and exhaust plenum , runner , valve are reduced to single volume and in case setup HTM exhaust manifold DXEFRM , DIA exhaust pipes, DXTFRM, HTM intake manifold are specified as case setup
STEP 4: In this step intake boost pipe is reduced in to single volume and inter cooler are change into FRM template in case setup DIA BOOST PIPE is included
Step5: Compressor intake pipe , air filter are reduced in to single volume in case set up DIA INTAKE PIPE is included
Step6: In this step the exhaust manifold , plenum ,runner are change in to single volume .In case setup HTM EXHAUST MANIFOLD- HEAT TRANSFER MULTIPLIER of exhaust manifold is included
Step8: RLT creater template is included. This template allows the user to create RLT variables that can be used with the real time version of GT-SUITE-RT
FRM BUILDER APPROACH
- Build FRM Model for following configuration using FRM builder approach
- Bore 102 mm stroke 115 mm CR 17
- No of cylinder 6
- CI engine
- Twin Scroll Turbine
- GT Controller
- Run all case
FRM model is created using FRM builder in tools option ci engine bore 102 mm stroke length 115mm and compression ratio is 17 and it is six cylinder engine and twin scroll turbocharger is used
And controller is GTcontroller we can couple with Simulink control algorithm also and run all cases
Example
First case took 183 period
4000 rpm to convert into rps divide by 60 = 66.66 rps
For one cycle / sec divide rps by 2 we will get one cycle per sec = 33.33cycle/sec
One period it took 0.03 sec 1/33.33 = 0.03sec
For 183 period it took 5.49 sec
For example report tables some cases
Engine geometry table for first six cases
Engine operating condition for first six cases
Engine performance for first six cases
Compressor And Turbine performance table for six cases
IN SIMULATION SPEED TABLE
In final RLT interval for first case it took 5.49 sec and for next case it converge fastly than first case in frm we can reduce the simulation time and it is used to check controler control algorithm is working properly not for simulation of detailed engine model it will take more time for calculation because there we observing actual physics inside the engine model and intake and exhaust model in frm we check only the control algorithm of injector, throtle ,waste gate diameter of turbocharger for controlling boost pressure . In detailed model simulation step size for calculation will increase but in frm it will be reduced because here we do not need to capture actual physics inside the engine here we need to check controler is working properly or not . it will run through gt controller otherwise we can design control algorithm seperatley in simulink and couple with gt suite frm model and we can run and it will cosimulate with simulink
