Assignment 3-2D Element Formulation Challenge
Both the models simulated of a runtime of 55 and requseted 30 animations.
Both the models had an acceptable energy loss and the model with which no shell formulation defined is used to have energy loss decreased from 0% to -10.3%.
The model with shell formulation has a ideal energy loss or near to it as a maximum of -(minus)0.1%.
Von mises stress value
Model without shell formulation-3.460E+02
Model with shell formulation-3.485E+02
The position of maximum von mises is nearly at same but at different node for different animations.
The simulation time taken for model with shell formulation is more (just 2 seconds) but worth as the energy loss is minimized by doing so.
The deformation the model with shell modification is different to the model without shell formulation. The hourglass energy of model with shell formulation is constant over time of simulation compared to original model where in here the hourglass energy showed a rise and fall (slightly) over time.
