Project Report

MODELLING SUNSEEKER PREDATOR YACHT

AIM

To gain knowledge on solid, surface modelling and assembly, rendering tools by modelling a photorealistic sunseeker yacht using solid works and photoview 360.

OBJECTIVES

To build all the parts of a Yacht by using solid and surface modelling tools and to assemble the multiple parts into a single yacht by assembling and rendering them more realistic by using photoview 360.

Components of yacht

  • Propeller
  • Radar
  • Hull
  • Garage Door
  • Front Seat
  • Middle Seat
  • Rear Seat
  • Superstructure
  • Radar Mast

Procedure

Features used commonly

  1. Sketch

It is a 2D drawing used to define the shape and profile of the required solid

  1. Surface Extrude

It is used to create a 3D surface as in the sketch

  1. Extrude

It is used to create a solid body from a 2d drawings

  1. Extrude cut

It is used to create a hole or delete the solid bodies

  1. Surface Extend

It is used to extend the surface

  1. Surface Trim

It is used to delete or trim the unrequired surface

  1. Fillet

It is used to make sharp edges into a smooth edge

  1. Knit Surface

It is used to reduce the gap between two surfaces

  1. Mirror

It is used to create an exact body with reference axis

  1. Loft

It is used a body or surface between two different sketches.

Propeller

A propeller is a device with a rotating hub and radiating blades that are set at a pitch to form a helical spiral. It transforms rotational power into linear thrust by acting upon a working fluid such as water or air.

Feature used

  • Sketch spline
  • Revolve
  • Reference Geometry
  • Loft
  • Fillet
  • Extrude Cut
  • Circular Pattern

Radar

A radar device acts as a major navigation aid for boaters. It helps in detecting boats, birds, landmasses, and weather systems - even if the visibility is less than usual.

Feature used

  • Sketch
  • Extrude
  • Fillet
  • offset entities
  • Pattern/Mirror
  • Cut Extrude
  • Text
  • Split Line

Hull

A hull is the watertight body of a ship or boat. The hull may open at the top or it may be fully or partially covered with a deck. A top the deck may be a deckhouse and other superstructures, such as a funnel, derrick, or mast.

Feature used

  • Blueprint setup
  • Sketch
  • Projected Curve
  • Surface Loft
  • Surface Trim
  • Surface Extrude
  • Surface Knit
  • Surface Fill
  • Shell
  • Fillet
  • Pattern Feature
  • Boss Extrude
  • Chamfer
  • Sweep
  • Split Body

Garage door

The garage door is used to close the garage space. It also protects the vehicle from the bad weather.

Feature used

  • Sketch
  • Extrude Cut
  • Shell
  • Fillet
  • Mirror
  • Text

Seat

The seat is used to take rest and make some relaxation. It is made up of some good leather covers.

Feature used

  • Sketch
  • Surface Sweep
  • Surface Offset
  • Ruled surface
  • Surface Knit
  • Surface Extend
  • Surface trim
  • Surface Extrude
  • Surface Loft
  • Chamfer
  • Fillet
  • Sweep
  • Mirror
  • Revolve

Superstructure

A superstructure is an extended construction of any building or platform that rises above the rest of the building or platform in a distinct manner. It is a control tower of the yacht, it is the operational center for all the activities on the vessel, and it is also the work station of a majority of the technical staff.

Feature used

  • Sketch
  • Surface Extrude
  • Surface Sweep
  • Surface Knit
  • Fillet
  • Ruled Surface
  • Surface Trim
  • Surface Loft
  • Surface Extend
  • Boss Extrude
  • Dome Feature
  • Sweep
  • Extrude Cut
  • Chamfer
  • Project Curve
  • Mirror

Radar Mast

Radar mast is used to detect other ships and land obstacles, to provide bearing and distance for collision avoidance and navigation at sea.

Feature used

  • Sketch
  • Boss Extrude
  • Fillet
  • Revolve
  • Sweep
  • Project Curve
  • Chamfer
  • Mirror
  • Dome

Assembly of Yacht

Each and every part of the Yacht is successfully completed and the parts are assembled with each other in a proper way to describe the structure of yacht using solidworks assembly feature.

Rendering

Rendering is used to provide the image of the yacht in different environmental conditions with different views. Here the rendering is carried out using photoview 360.

Conclusion

Thus, the modelling of the Sunseeker Predator Yacht is successfully completed using different tools in solidworks and the photorealistic view of the yacht is done by using photoview 360.
