Assembly of Yacht
DESIGN OF SUNSEEKER PREDATOR YACHT USING SOLIDWORKS
OBJECTIVE:
The main important objectives of this report are,
1.To know the tools and its features in solid-works software to improve the design skills and to apply new ideas in design field.
2.To create modelling and rendering of all parts of Sunseeker Predator Yacht.
3.To assemble the modelled and rendered parts of Yacht to create an entire structure of Sunseeker Predator Yacht.
INTRODUCTION:
Part Modelling:
It is nothing but to create virtual prototype of model. In this report modelling of every part of American chopper is created and then assembly is also done.
METHODOLOGY:

Description of Parts and its Features:
1.Propeller:
Propeller is a rounded blade that rotates in a circle, helping to move a yacht by pushing against water.
Features Used:
- Revolved Boss
- Lofted Surface
- Fillet
- Extrude Cut
- Circular Pattern
Description:
Revolved Boss:
It revolves a selected sketch contours around an axis to create a solid feature.
Lofted Surface:
It creates a feature by making transitions between profiles. It must be created using two or more profiles.
Fillet:
It creates a rounded internal or external face on the part. It must be applicable only on edges.
Extrude Cut:
It cuts a solid model by extruding a sketched profile in one or two directions.
Circular Pattern:
It patterns or creates no of instances of features, faces and bodies around axis.

2.Radar:
Radar is the electronic navigation instrument that use a rotating antenna to sweep a narrow beam of microwaves around the water surface for detecting the targets by microwaves reflected from them, generating a picture of ship’s surroundings on a display screen.
Features Used:
- Extrude Boss
- Fillet
- Extrude Cut
- Sketch Driven Pattern
- Mirror
- Split Line
Description:
Extrude Boss:
It helps to add thickness on 2D sketch in third dimension.
Sketch Driven Pattern:
It patterns a features, faces and bodies based on sketch points.
Mirror:
It creates copy of features, faces and bodies about plane or planar face.
Split Line:
It Projects a sketch to curved or planar faces, creating multiple several faces.

3.HULL:
The hull is the watertight body of a Yacht or ship or boat. The hull may be open at top or fully or partially covered with deck.
Features Used:
- Project Curve
- Lofted Surface
- Trim Surface
- Extruded Surface
- Knit Surface
- Filled Surface

- Extrude Boss
- Extrude Cut
- Fillet
- Chamfer
- Swept Boss
- Revolve
- Helix and Spiral
- Linear Pattern
- Delete Face
- Mirror
- Revolved Boss
- Split
Description:
Project Curve:
It projects a Sketched curve onto a face or sketch.
Trim Surface:
It trims where a surface intersects with another surface, a plane or a sketch. Select a trim type, trim toom, and the surfaces to keep or remove.
Extrude Surface:
It extrudes a sketch contours in one or two direction to create a surface feature.
Knit Surface:
It combines two or more adjacent, nonintersecting surfaces into a single surface body. The surfaces must join at an edge.If the resulting knit surface encloses a volume, can create a solid body from the property manager.
Filled Surface:
It patches a surface within a boundary defined by edges, sketches, or curves. Constraint curves are used to fill surfaces and adjust resolution control to improve surface finish.
Shell:
It hollows out a part, leaving open the faces you select, and creating thin-walled features on the remaining faces.
Chamfer:
It creates a bevel feature along edge, a chain of tangent edge or vertex.
Swept Boss:
It sweeps a closed profile along an open or closed path to create a solid feature.
Helix and Spiral:
It adds a helix or spiral curve from sketched circle.
Linear Pattern:
It patterns or creates no of instances of features, faces and bodies in one or two linear direction.
Delete Face:
It deletes faces from solid bodies to create surfaces, or deletes face from a surface body.
Split:
It is used to split the face, sketch, and surface on multiple bodies.

4.Garage Door:
It is a large door on garage of yacht, that opens either manually or by an electric motor.
Features Used:
- Extrude Cut
- Shell
- Fillet
- Mirror
- Reference Plane
Description:
Reference Plane:
It is a plane created on required references.

5.Front Seat:
It is seating part located in front of superstructure at the hull of Yacht.
Features Used:
- Swept Surface
- Extrude Surface
- Trim Surface
- Filled Surface
- Lofted Surface
- Knit Surface
- Chamfer
- Revolved Boss
- Fillet
- Mirror
- Dome
Description:
Swept Surface:
It sweeps a closed profile along an open or closed path to create a surface feature.
Lofted Surface:
It creates a lofted surface between two or more profiles or sketches. Specify start and end constraints and add guide curves to control the path shape.
Dome:
It is used to create bump on selected top face.

6.Middle Seat:
It is a seating part located under superstructure (behind superstructure) with table and sofa set.
Features Used:
- Extruded Boss
- Reference Plane
- Chamfer
- Fillet
- Mirror

7.Rear Seat:
It is a seating part located at the end of deck surface. Also it has the gates to enter lower deck surface and flag is mounted on it.

Description:
Offset Surface:
It offsets surfaces using one or more contiguous faces. The tool creates an offset surface with gapes.
Ruled Surface:
It inserts ruled surfaces in a direction from edges.
Extend Surface:
It extends one or more edges or faces on surface, based on end conditions and extension type.

Assembly Of Sunseeker Predator Yacht:
After the modelling of every parts of yacht the assembling of yacht is to be done.

Features Used:
- Inserted Components
- Mates
Description:
Inserted Components:
It used to insert components of American Chopper to form assembly by mates.
Mates:
It connects to components by some features like concentric, coincident, parallel, tangent etc..

Rendering of Sunseeker Predator Yacht:
Rendering is the process of creating realistic image of photorealistic model with environment.
It has been done by two methods. They are,
1.Photoview 360
- Solidworks Visualize
Here I have used photoview 360 for rendering of Yacht assembly. By rendering the yacht assembly in photoview 360, features like scenes,decals,camera,lights,etc.. are applied to yacht assembly.

Conclusion:
1.The part modelling of every part of sunseeker Predator Yacht has been done with required features.
- The assembly of Sunseeker Predator Yacht has been done with proper mates.
3.The rendering of Sunseeker Predator Yacht has been done with proper features.
