Advanced Sheet Metal Design Using NX Cad Challenge_7_ Metal bracket-II

SHEET METAL BRACKET

MAIN 0BJECTIVE :

To create a sheet metal bracket using the given inputs in the NX CAD software.

INTRODUCTION :

Sheet metal brackets found their application for mounting of any products starting from antennas to TV, projectors or street lights and many more. Apart from this, we have the ability to conduct stress and mechanical testing on brackets depending on the application.

DESIGN METHODOLOGY :

DESCRIPTION :

  1. To create a sheet metal bracket using NX CAD
  2. First draw the sketch in XZ plane of the CONTOUR FLANGE with a width of 158 MM and thickness of 3 MM.
  3. Then draw another sketch using the yz plane.
  4. Use the sketch to create a NORMAL CUTOUT on the CONTOUR FLANGE.
  5. After creating the NORMAL CUTOUT provide CORNER BREAKS to the FLANGE.
  6. Then create an advanced flange on the top of the flange with 5 MM length
  7. I have to play with the values in-order to get the flanges right.
  8. Then UNBEND the flange and provide a HOLE using the sketch.
  9. Given some NORMAL CUTOUTS to clear the rough edges.
  10. After REBENDING the flange I have improved the bend radius using RESIZE BEND RADIUS.
  11. Then I have proveded an ADVANCED FLANGE to the hole in the middle with 4 MM length and I had to play with the values to get an approx model.
  12. Then I have provided GUSSETS to the bending surface to improve the strength.
  13. After complition of the component I jumped into the drafting work bench and made the views of the component.
  14. I have played with the values in order to get the approx result and the values provided in the pdf are wrong in some cases.

CONCLUSION :

I have followed the guidelines given to me and made some value changes inorder to get the desired output.
