Creating A Casing Design

• Aim: We need to design a sheet metal casing using "simens Nx sheet metal application".
• Inroduction: We will design the sheet metal casing using "Nx" application.
• Procedure:

1. Then we will open new file and give the name as "Nx casing samarth".
2. Then select the application and select the sheet metal application.
3. Then select the sketch option and the plane on which we need to sketch.
4. Then draw the rectangle symetric to xy plane(l=60,b=50,T=1mm) and create a base tab.
5. Select the the upper plane P and draw a rectangle attached to one end symmetric to the breadth(l=5,b=40mm) and use the normal cutout option and then create the norml cutout.
6. Then we need to create the bend by drawing an line horrizontally 10mm from top corner and bottom corner and create the bend of `angle`90 using bend option.
7. Creating a flange on both the end of 5mm length.
8. Then break the corners of the created model by input of 1mm radius.
9. Unbend the created model be specifying the stationary face.
10. Next we need to add whole on all the four corner as shown in the figure.
11. Next we need to draw a + with 16 points to be created with 5mm difference between them in XY plane as shown in the figure.
12. Then we need to use the stdio splin option and select the curve clockwise or anti clockwise and use the move curve option and the rotate it about angle45.
13. In the next step we need to add dimple of depth 1mm.
14. Next we need to add bead of depth 1mm by drawing a circle of 5mm diameter and 8mm distance from the center to the left side corner and same from the top bend line.
15. Next we need to use mirror option and specify the plane and then create the bead on all the four corners as shown in figure.
16. Then we need to rebend the model in reverse direction.
17. Then we need to create the flat pattern using flat pattern commmand.
18. finally we need to a drafted image of the casing design created(sheet size=A4,scale=2:1,view=Flat pattern).

• conclusion: finally we designed the CASING using Nx sheet metal application.
