Adams challenge 6 - Modifying different parameters of a double wishbone suspension
Steps:
-first a double wishbone assembly is opened

-then parallel wheel simulation is run

-then x-axis data was chosen as wheel travel vertical left

-then y-axis data was chosen as camber angle

1-modifying hard points:
-then HPL_LCA_outer was modified from table from 100 to 110 mm

-then simulation was rerunned

-then output curves are overlayed

2-modifying bushings vertical stiffness:
-then lower control arm bushing was modified

-the z-axis force component was modified

This was done from editing the bushing file

before editing

after editing
-then parallel wheel simulation was rerunned and bushing change effect was studied

3-Modifying spring rate:
-then after that the springs was modified with the same process

-then parallel wheel travel simulation was rerunned to study the effect

4-Modifying Dampers:
-Then by the same process the dampers can be modified

-then the effect of damper modification was studied using dynamic simulation

-function builder was used inorder to create vertical force input that changes with time
-this can be accessed by right clicking in the empty place beside vertical input in the dynamic simulation menu

-then a new window will open which will allow you to enter the function

-the function has to be entered using specific variable which adams can understand such as “TIME” which can’t be entered as “t”

-then number of steps was chosen as 500 and duration time was set to 10 seconds

-then x-axis variable input is chosen as time

-Then y-axis input is chosen by changing the source to “result sets”
-Then clicking on challenge_4 then dal_ride_damper then force then fz

-Then the damper is changed and the simulation is rerunned to study its effect

5-Modifying the steering ratio:
-then steering ratio is modified this can be done from the elements tree
-First the steering subsystem was selected which is MDI_front_steering

-then from gears and reduction gear, the ratio is changed from 0.17 to 0.139

-then steering simulation is runned to study its effect
-the simulation was driven by the rack length which is specified from 85 to -85 mm and number of steps chosen as 500

-then x-axis variable was chosen as steer angle left from test rig

-Then y axis input variable was chosen as steering wheel angle front from MDI_front_steering

-the steering_ratio will be the slope at the center point
-Then simulation was rerunned to study the effect
