Underbody Coating
UNDERBODY COATING:
Every vehicle is get affected by the external atmosphere (dust, nanoparticles, moisture, low-level water pool, etc.) during its movement in any kind of surface (on-road or off-road). Since roads and surrounding conditions are not always perfect and ideal so it becomes necessary for a vehicle to have a surface coating. The thickness and type of coating varies from parts to parts and it depends upon which part it belongs. So when it comes to underbody coating it plays a very important role in protecting the underbody chassis of the car as this portion is heavily affected by the rough terrain, dust, water pools, etc.. Exposure of underbody to these conditions may lead to damage the parts (present near the underbody) and also it could lead to corrosion. Underbody coating is quite common in luxury cars but now these are also being offered to mass production cars to give that protection and longer life to the car. Underbody coating is quite an expensive process and raises the price of the car. So depending upon the priority of the company and norms set by the government underbody coating thickness varies. Different companies come up with their own features just by adjusting the optimal price to their car and amount of coating to be coated. Companies sales department sell and promote their vehicle by highlighting the underbody coating and its features. This also adds an extra feature which becomes a selling factor for the car companies. Underbody coating thickness varies from 100`mu` to 10 mm for different cars.
PURPOSE:
- To protect from getting damaged by paint erosion
- acts as corrosive resistance
- easy maintenance
- reduces noise
- increases the life of the car and its chassis
- provides good insulation
- east to clean dirt or dust which gets accumulated to the underbody
