Fender design
Fender: Fender is a part of an automobile vehicle which houses the wheel assembly. It is provided at front and rear side the vehicle. Fender is also referred to as wings in some regions. Its primary purpose is to prevent the sand, mud, liquid and other road particle being thrown into the engine compartment by the rotating tire.
Fender also helps in giving a good aesthetic look to the car and its exterior shape plays a major role in providing aerodynamic shape to the car which further helps in increasing the efficiency and speed of the car.
Apart from preventing the mud, sand, and other particles to damage the car components it also helps in preventing injuries to the pedestrian.
- Types of Fender used: Full bumper type and Half bumper type.
Full bumper type
- more wastage of material in the form of metal
- used quite often in old cars
- increases the weight on the vehicle
- the performance also reduces
- if bumper gets damage costly for replacement and maintenance
half bumper type
- less wastage of material
- used in modern cars
- reduces the weight on the car
- performance increases and hence mileage increases
- allows using plastic on the bumper side and helps in easy replacement and maintenance if damage occurs.
