TENSION AND TORSION TEST

Question1

For the tension test, displace one end of the specimen to 18mm while keeping the other fixed. You will need to find out the total deformation, equivalent stress and temperature of the specimen and attach appropriate images to show your results.

Analysis systems

For the Torsion and Tension Test Analysis, please use the Explicit Dynamics systems

Materials

Material used is STEEL 1006, From the explicit materials library

Model upload

Upload the model in the geometry tab and open in space claim and close it and again open in the model tab again.

Coordinate systems

Please select the two ends one by one and add the coordinate systems apart from the global coordinate systems. so total three coordinates systems.

Mesh

In the mesh tab, use insert option to get method and choose tetrahedron from the method after selecting the whole body

Again open and insert he sizing and select the face of one ends and apply and chose type as sphere of influence, select the sphere center as coordinate system newly selected by us earlier. Sphere radius as 22 mm and element size as 3 mm. Do the same for the other end of the geometry.

Then generate the mesh

Analysis settings

Set the analysis stings end time as 1 e-3 and insert the displacement and add the tabular data on the x axis as 18 mm

Insert the fixed displacement and fix on the other end

In solution add the total deformation and equivalent elastic strain, equivalent stress and click on the solution and work sheet and navigate to result and take the temperature right click and create user defined result.

Results

Conclusion

Total deformation

Equivalent elastic strain

Equivalent stress

Temperature

TORSION TEST

Apart from the tension test, use the same specimen and change the below mentioned items in the experiment.

need to create a cylindrical coordinate system in the central part and insert the coordinate system and change the type to cylindrical. And change the direction of rotation is in line with the axis of the object and change the principle axis accordingly.

After this, change the displacement coordinate system in to new one and make x and z component as zero and y component as tabular and add 1200 degree.

Reset the results and take the values .

Total deformation

Equivalent elastic strain

Equivalent stress

Temperature

the end.
