Steering Geometry 1
1. The values of the required geometric parametres are as follows:
- Caster = 5.37 degrees
- Mechanical trial = 9.41mm
- Kingpin Inclination = 10.0079 degrees
- Scrub Radius = 32.36 mm
- Longitudinal offset = 82.26 mm

2. Given:
Lateral Force = 2000N
Pneumatic trial = 25 mm
Mechanical trial = 9.41 mm (as calculated)
Restoring moment = Lateral force*(mechanical trial + pneumatic trial)
Restoring moment = 2000*(9.41 + 25)
Restoring moment = 2000*34.41
Restoring moment = 68820 N-mm
OR
Restoring moment = 68.82 N-m.
3. With the above given COORDINATES, we get a positive scrub radius.
The length of the kingpin using the given COORDINATES is found out as follows:
L=√[{-675-(-750)}^(2) + {525-100}^(2)]
L=431.56mm
Keeping LCA Ball joint fixed at (-750,100) and making scrub radius zero, the new coordinates of UCA knuckle ball joint are found out.
