SIMULATION OF ROLLING OPERATION ON A COPPER WORKPIECE
Objective :
To perform a rolling operation on copper work-piece and to evaluate the results of Equivalent stress for the whole setup,Equivalent Plastic strain for the work-piece,Directional Deformation in the Z axis for the work-piece.
Geometry :
The given geometry was imported in static structural and lenth of the workpiece is increased to 60mm and both side of the workpiece is reduced to 8mm.
Material :
The genral non linear material is used for workpiece and structural steel is used for both wheels.
- copper alloy nl
Contact :
There are two contacts created
1. wheel 1 to workpiece
2. wheel 2 to workpiece
these two contact is frictional contact with value of 0.2
Formulation type is augmented lagrange.
Normal stiffness factor is 0.1.
update stiffness to each iteration.
interface treatment is Add offset, No ramping.
Joints :
There are two joints created for two wheels.
connection type is cylindrical body to ground.
Mesh :
3mm mesh is created to workpiece.
Default mesh size is used for both the wheels.
Analysis settings :
The following constraints used for analysis settings.
Joint load :
Rotation for wheel is created.wheel 1 and wheel 2 should be in opposite rotation.
Displacement :
displacement for workpiece is created in down direction (y).
Results :
Directional Deformation in the Z axis for the work-piece max : 5.7079 mm
- The maximum equivalent stress for the whole setup is 3465.7 Mpa
- Maximum equivalent plastic strain is 2.2761mm/mm
- directional deformation in the z axis is 5.7079 mm.directional deformation indicates how much the workpiece deformed in z axis.
- And it is proved that the workpiece travelled a distance of 90mm.
