PLANETARY GEAR WITH CARRIER AMSEMBLY WITH MOTION ANALYSIS USING SOLIDWORKS
PLANETARY GEAR WITH CARRIER AMSEMBLY WITH MOTION ANALYSIS USING SOLIDWORKS
INTRODUCTION
In this Planetary Gear system there are
- Sun Gear – 1
- Ring Gear – 1
- Planetary Gears – 4
- Carrier – 1
To find Planetary Gear PCD and No. of Teeth,
We have formula,
For Finding out PCD,
After substitution, Obtained values of planet gear are

Design and assembly Section –
At Before, Carrier need to be modelled as shown,
Figure – Carrier Geometry
However, remaining Parts can be drawn directly to assembly section from design library as shown,

Motion Analysis –
Step 1- Make sure solid works motion is enabled in add on’s and kept in motion analysis path at left corner.
Step 2- Then after apply the conditions as such, given in problem statement

Step 3 – Insert a motor to input part and get values or plots from output by fixing the fixed part.
Step 4 – Make contact pairs and apply the material of parts.
Step 5 – Set the runtime simulation and RPM.
Step 6 – Initially calculate, then after obtain the plots of angular velocity and time.
Case -3
Figure – Angular Velocity and time
Conclusion for Case 3 –
As motor given to Sun Gear, it transmits motion to planetary gears and then to ring gear. Angular velocity achieved is less because of more ring size and carrier remains fixed.
