Modelling and simulation of flow through a Internal combustion engine cylinder valve to analyse the effect of Valve lift and mass flow rate
Study: Presented experimental work is aim towards analysing the effect of valve lift and mass flow rate in the internal combustion engine cylinder. Valve in the engine cylinder is used for the flow of gasoline in the engine cylinder. Our main focused is towards simulating the effects of valve lift and mass flow rate.
Task Undertaken:
* Grid dependence Test
* Plot valve lift vs mass flow rate
Experimental work:
1. Start a new part file, change the unit system to MKS.
2. Select the front plane and start a new sketch & draw a circle of 0.05m and extrude it to 0.10m.
3. Draw a straight line parallel and perpendicular (L shaped ) over the cylinder use fillet command on the intersection point and use sweep tool to Construct intake port.
4. Using a reference plane on the joint of port and cylinder draw axis, select the front plane and construct inlet valve.
5. flow simulation, select wizard menu and input parameters are as follow:
Simulation type: Internal
Fluid: Air
Boundary Condition :
Total pressure =5 bar
Static pressure = 1 bar

Conclusion:
With the increase in level of mesh from 3 to 4, we get insights about how with the increase in level of mesh simulation provides every necessary detail and looks more smooth.
from 4 to 5 level of there is a slight difference.
we can see with increase in valve lift flow rate also get increases.
