Project

Flow SImulation in SolidWorks

This project was all about simulating the velocity of flow of water inside a pipe.

The pipe created was a hollow pipe having diameter of 26 mm and inside diameter of 25 mm and the length 500 mm. Also three line probes were created at 95%, 90% and 85% of the length of the pipe to simulate the normalize velocity at these three probe lines. Liquid which was used for the flow simulation is water. Simulation was done at three different inlet velocity and at each velocity normalize velocity plot was created at all three line probes.

Pipe dimension are as follows:-
Inner dia=25 mm
thickness=1 mm
length=500 mm

Internal Flow Analysis:
Fluid used=Water
Dynamic viscosity=8.90*10^-4 PaS
Density=1000 Kg/m^3

Boundry conditions are as follows:-
inlet velocity
static pressure
real wall

Mannual mesh information
N(x-dir)=120
N(y-dir)=25
N(z-dir)=25

Reynold's Number: Velocity
100 : 0.003560 m/s
1000 : 0.03560 m/s
10000 : 0.3560 m/s

Parametric Study:-Different Reynold's Number
Design Point 1:- Re=100
Design Point 2:- Re=1000
Design Point 3:- Re=10000

Results:-

  • For Re=100
  • Re=1000
  • Re=10000
  • Normalised Velocity Vs Diameter

  • At 85% of the Length:-
  • At 90% of the Length
  • At 95% of length
  • Comparison:-
