Gate Valve Parametric Study

Gate Valve Parametric Study

A parametric study is like a design of experiments that maps a certain change that as interconnected. It is defined as a process of superimposing changes in input to the corresponding output.

In our case, a parametric study is carried on a gate valve for different levels of Gate Disc lift positions & corresponding outlet mass flowrates.

Geometry:

Cad Model of Gate Valve is shown above. It consists of a gate disc that controls the amount of fluid passing & other sub-components like bonnet, spindle & handwheel.

Fluid Volume of Gate Valve is shown above.

No of Nodes: 46258

No of Elements: 228942

Boundary Conditions:

K-epsilon\'s realizable scalable wall functions have been used as a solver.

Cell Zone Conditions: Fluid used is Water

Pressure Inlet: 10 Pa

Pressure Outlet

In the report definition, the mass flow rate is monitored at the outlet.

Velocity contour is plotted in the midplane of the geometry.

Baseline Simulation:

This Simulation is carried for 10mm lift of the Gate Disc

Parametric Study:

The lift of the gate disc is the input parameter(P1) & the corresponding Outlet mass flow rate is the output parameter(P2).

The lift of the gate disc can be seen for each case by changing the current option in the Table of Design Points.

Different lift of gate disc and the corresponding fluid volume change is shown below:
