Gate Valve Parametric Study
The objective of this challenge is to perform a parametric study on the gate valve with different lift values.
GEOMETRY AND MESH:
Initial geometry has been provided with a few millimeters clearance between disc and bottom. Initial simulation is a 10mm lift of disc valve. Fluid volume is extracted using the Volume extract option in using the surface of the inlet, outlet and a top surface of bonnet. To visualize real-life simulation of fluid flow, both inlet and outlet are extended to 800mm on corresponding sides. Geometry has meshed with the size of 8mm. Number of Elements = 257881 and Number of Nodes = 53252. Both ends are named as inlet and outlet which corresponds to fluid motion.

BOUNDARY CONDITIONS:
Inlet pressure is provided as 10Pa and gravity is in negative Z-axis. K-epsilon turbulence model with Realizable Enhanced wall treatment is used which covers the fluid flow at the corners of the bottom disc. Fluid flow is used as water in for this simulation and is directly used form Ansys Fluent database.

ANIMATION:
For saving animation with different design points in the Parametric study, there will be an error in Ansys Solution. So, velocity magnitude values at each iteration are extracted at midplane from each design points and then they are post-processed in Ansys Results.

MASS FLOW RATE FOR DIFFERENT LIFT VALUES:
A negative value in mass flow indicates fluid flow is a negative direction to the surface normal. As lift value increases mass flow at the outlet as well increases gradually and the same for the number of iterations as well. All residuals are with the tolerance of 0.001
