Flow in a channel for different grid sizes

OBJECTIVE

To simulate the flow through a channel for different grid sizes and document the results.

RESULTS

MESH FOR DIFFERENT GRID SIZES

1) Grid size 2e-4 m.

2) Grid size 1.5e-4 m.

3) Grid size 1e-4 m.

VELOCITY CONTOUR AND PLOTS

The velocity contours are shown below.The plots are made midway of the length of the pipe across its diameter for all three grid sizes.

1)Grid size 2e-4 m.

2)Grid size 1.5e-4 m.

3) Grid size 1e-4 m.

With finer grid size the plots get sharper.

However there is no significant difference between grid size 1.5e-4 and 1e-4 plots.But the computational time significantly increases when chooseing the finer grid size.

Hence the results of grid size of 1.5e-4 can be said to be satisfactory.
