FENDER DESIGN – WHEEL ARC CALCULATION
- This Fender – Wheel arc Calculation is made in the Early design phase, so that the Styling feasibility of different NCAP can be known & designed accordingly.
- Also Tire has to be inside the Fender if seen in FRONT VIEW. So that any chipping of foreign particles inside vehicle or to pedestrian is very minimum.
- To do that, From Side view of the vehicle the wheel centre is marked & a line of 50deg & 30deg is drawn as shown in image. Extrapolate that line & project it in TOP view to measure the distance at these three points.
- To pass EURO NCAP – 10mm Minimum is required.
- Given Styling in Skill-Lync, Fender Calculation is made as per above procedure, and it passed only JNCAP & didn’t pass the EURO NCAP.
- At 30deg – 10mm , at 0deg – 10mm & at 50deg – 5.6mm (which is not accepted in EURO NCAP).
