Drop test Challenge by Tanmoy Banik
Objective-To create a basic solver deck to Simulate a drop Test.
Given , .K file consisiting of nodes and elements of two parts, a simplified cellphone and a plate mimicking ground.
I need to create a complete simulation file from this to perform a drop test.
Steps-
1. Load the .k files in Ls Prepost.
2. Now we see that we have 3 parts. 1 phone, 1plate(floor/ground), and one thin sheet over the ground.
3. We need to go to model and parts- Keyword manager- and then create material and section as described below.
We can apply the plate and phone with solid section, and the thin part over the ground as shell.
We also use inital velocity card and apply the velocity of -4429 on the z axis to the mobile as per the standard.
We apply Rigid material to the ground and thin part over the ground and Mat24 to the phone.
,,
4. I used PartData option to assign the avove mentioned material and sections to the correct part.
5. Now I created the *Control card by assigning master to the ground and slave to the phone.
6, Now Control termination of DT 0.005 was given, and also energy calculation for HGEN and SLNTN was enabled.
7. For output, d3plot with dt 0.00001 was enabled and in ASCII GLSTAT and RCFORCE was enabled with similar dt values.
8. Model check was done (Note, here boundary constrained SPC was not used as i already used rigid body as the ground)
9. Model was run in LS manager. The simulation results are below.
Results and Conclusion-
The Isometric view of model with Von Misses stress is shown below. it can be clearly seen the stress distribution in the mobile . and the plate as it was rigid has no stress. The energy plots are also shown........
