Channel Flow
Objective
To set up and solve a channel flow problem in Converge and post-process the results in Paraview.
The length of the channel is 0.1 metres and height is 0.01 metres.
Problem is run for three base grid sizes of 2e-4,1.5e-4 and 1.0e-4 respectively in the X-axis.
Y-axis grid size is 1e-4 which is constant for all simulation runs.
Grid Scaling is enabled as well as fixed embedding at the top and bottom boundary.
The Boundary Conditions are as follows
Inlet = 100001 Pa
Outlet = 10000 Pa
Top and Bottom = 300 K
A steady-state solution is obtained for the incompressible flow using PISO solver.
The grid scaling is performed at 5000, 6000 and 7000 cycles respectively.
The coarser grid provides a lower value for Average Temperature at Outlet. The value is closer in the refined grid and stay the same for a more refined grid.
Above is the chart comparing Inlet and Outlet pressure for various grid sizes. The flow is essentially driven by this small pressure difference of 1 Pa
