BENCHMARKING

What is Benchmarking

Benchmarking is a process of measuring the performance of a company’s products, services, or processes against those of another business considered to be the best in the industry, “best in class.” The point of benchmarking is to identify internal opportunities for improvement. By studying companies with superior performance, breaking down what makes such superior performance possible, and then comparing those processes to how your business operates, you can implement changes that will yield significant improvements.

Benchmarking is a simple, but detailed, five-step process:

  • Choose a product, service, or internal department to benchmark
  • Determine which best-in-class companies you should benchmark against – which organizations you’ll compare your business to
  • Gather information on their internal performance, or metrics
  • Compare the data from both organizations to identify gaps in your company’s performance
  • Adopt the processes and policies in place within the best-in-class performers

Benchmarking will point out what changes will make the most difference, but it’s up to you to actually put them in place.

BENCHMARKING PROCESS FOR MR.PUGHAZHYENDHI REQUIREMENT:

1.HYUNDAI GRAND I10 NIOS:

Rs.5.77 - 10.00 Lakh

Hyundai Grand i10 Nios Review

The Hyundai Grand i10 NIOS is the third generation for the South Korean automaker’s mid-size hatchback. The car is being in multiple variants and with both petrol and diesel power of which the latter now gets an AMT.

The new Hyundai Grand i10 is based on an all-new platform that has made the car lighter, flexible, safer and wider than its predecessor. The vehicle gets a new fascia with a redesigned headlamp and tweaked front grille. It also gets redesigned bumpers and a fresh set of rear tail lamp. However, the sides are expected to resemble the current generation model apart from a fresh set of alloy wheels. However, the vehicle will not lose its young and tall-body styling element.

The Grand i10 Nios gets a new dual-tone upholstery for freshness, touchscreen infotainment system, climate control, rear AC vents, driver’s seat height adjustment and dual tone colour schemes. All variants get standard safety features such as dual front airbags and ABS.

Under the hood, the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios gets the existing car’s petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol version continues with the 1.2-litre Kappa engine that develops 81bhp of power and 114Nm and it is BS6 compliant. The diesel version gets the 1.2-litre four-cylinder engine that generates 74bhp of power and 190Nm of torque. Both the variants get the five-speed manual gearbox as well as an AMT as a part of the package.

DISADVANTAGES:

1. Steering does not weigh up as required during high speeds, which makes driving at high speeds a bit tricky and deprives the driver of confidence.
2. Resale value is good only if you upgrade your car from Hyundai camp. (Eg: My self owned 11 year old Santro fetched ₹1lakh at the Hyundai centre, whereas it was just estimated at ₹40K to ₹60K at Mahindra first choice and other car dealers).
3. Softer suspensions make the ride bumpy (especially at the rear seats).
4. Boot and cabin space are mediocre.

2.MARUTI SWIFT:

Rs.5.04 - 8.04 Lakh

Diesel Automatic 28.4 kmpl 19.27 kmpl 28.4 kmpl
Petrol Manual 21.21 kmpl - -
Petrol Automatic 21.21 kmpl - -

DISADVANTAGES:

There is barely anything wrong with the new Swift. But there are still some things that it could do better for the next generation.

  • Interior plastic quality: It would be better if the Swift comes with higher quality material which will make it even more premium.

  • Stiff riding: The stiff suspension makes the Swift better at handling, however, the riding quality will be sacrificed. As the result, it could not offer a comfortable ride, especially on bad roads.

  • Safety: Ironically, even packed with a fully-loaded safety kit, the Swift turns out to poorly perform in the NCAPcrash tests, only score 2 stars on the test due to the unstable structure. It causes a serious concern about the safety of the Swift.

3.FORD ECO SPORT:

Rs.8.04 - 10.04 Lakh

Ford EcoSport Review

The EcoSport has been one of the highest selling Ford cars in India since its launch in 2014. Cons or Disadvantages of the new Ford EcoSport

  • The thick A-pillar obstructs the view from the driver’s seat
  • The absence of reclining back seats can be a bit disappointing.
4.Volkswagen Vento:

Rs.8.7 - 14.04 Lakh

Volkswagen Vento Review

The Volkswagen Vento has received a mid-life update with fresh set of cosmetic and feature upgrades. The new Vento is now available in flash red colour option, in addition to the existing colour options like the sunset red, reflex silver candy white, carbon steel, lapiz blue and toffee brown

The cabin remains more or less unchanged and on top-of-the-line models, you get touchscreen infotainment system, climate control, dual front airbags, ABS with EBD and an all-black colour scheme. It gets Volkswagen Connect, a connectivity suite that features trip tracker, trip sharing, driver behaviour and statistic tracking, fuel cost monitoring and service malfunction intimation to the dealer.

Electrically Adjustable Mirror
PERFORMANCE:
Displacement (cc) - 1498
Peak Power - 108 BHP@4400 RPM

Peak Torque - 250 NM@1500 RPM

DISADVANTAGES:

The Vento is a well built car and there isn’t much to complain about. However there are two key factors that may let down prospective buyers. It lacks some features like Bluetooth for the audio system (although the optional add on navigation system supports Bluetooth), it doesn’t have rear parking sensors or a rear parking camera) and it doesn’t have cruise control.

Another factor that prospective buyers take into account is the cost of spares. The Vento being a Volkswagen car has expensive spare parts, which can be a let down for those looking for an easy to own sedan in this segment.

THESE ARE MY SUGEESTION TO MR.PUGHAZAHYENDHII.
