9 Lessons To Learn This Navratri For Career Success

logo

Skill-Lync

Goddess Durga occupies a special place in the Hindu pantheon. According to the legends, Goddess Durga incarnated to slay the demon Mahishasura, who was terrorizing the mortal plains. The Goddess battled the demon for eight days and finally slayed him on the ninth. Navratri is a time to commemorate the victory of good over evil. Symbolically, it indicates the triumph of virtuous thoughts and actions over negative thinking and behavior. This is the time to invoke the Shakti within to conquer each one of us, that which keeps us limited in life.

Only 55% of India's engineering graduates are employable. With an average of 15,00,000 students graduating from engineering colleges yearly, about 8,00,000+ students cannot find a stable job in their core domain.

There are multiple reasons behind this lackadaisical performance among the country’s engineering graduates. These include the following:

  1. Poor planning
  2. Inadequate skills
  3. Absence of industry-experience
  4. Lack of domain-expertise
  5. Absence of the right professional network
  6. Minimal project experience

Through this blog, we shall use the various forms of the Goddess to learn critical life lessons for career success.

Nine Lessons For Career Success, This Navaratri

The nine days of Navaratri represent the nine forms of Goddess Shakti. We can incorporate the teachings from Her different forms to lead a prosperous life. These are:

  1. Shailaputri

Maa Shailaputri is the provider of fortune, an incarnation of the Goddess Parvati. The lesson that she imparts to her followers is that she will provide the opportunity for success. However, it depends on the believer's agency to change fortune into a cherished treasure. More simply, think of the many upskilling options (remote and offline) available to a student in the digital age. That is the fortune the Goddess has arranged, and it is up to the student to seize it.

  1. Brahmacharini

On the second day of Navaratri, we worship the Goddess in the form of Brahmacharini. The legends speak of her resolute determination. The penance she undertook to marry Lord Shankar should be a lesson. Even when asuras assailed her, she did not break her stance. This unwavering determination is the fundamental virtue shared by every successful human being. As long as you persist, you have a chance to succeed.

  1. Chandraghanta

On the third day of Navaratri, we worship the Goddess in the form of Chandraghanta. She is said to possess a terrifying visage that is perpetually vigilant to protect her devotees against evil. This hypervigilance is a form of readiness to deal with situations before they occur. This vigilance should become an ingrained trait of every engineering student. With such preparations, students can leverage their skills to advance their career prospects confidently.

  1. Kushmanda

According to the legends, Goddess Kushmanda resides in the Sun. Her rays of warmth shield her devotees against any form of negativity. Her stories teach us a valuable lesson about keeping a healthy mindset. It is only in the warmth of the Sun that the shoots of success can sprout. Similarly, you will succeed only with a positive mental outlook devoid of procrastination, negative thinking, and self-limiting beliefs.

  1. Skandamata

On the fifth day of Navaratri, devotees pray to the Goddess Skandamata. Devotees who seek blessings on the fifth day of Navaratri will get twice the blessings, one from the Goddess and the other from Lord Karthikeya. The synergy of their blessings is similar to the help that Skill-Lync students receive from our technical support experts. Our technical support team will encourage you to reach your goals and push you to become the best version of yourself. The difficulty of a path reduces when guided by someone who has walked the same road before.

  1. Katyayani

Katyayani is the form of the Goddess who slayed the rampaging demon, Mahishasura. Even though she was the incarnation of the divine Shakti, she still needed to be armed to defeat Mahishasura. An engineering student, too, needs to be armed with the latest skills in the industry. Only then will they be able to achieve success in their respective domains.

  1. Kalaratri

Kalaratri is the enraged form of the Goddess that eliminates evil. Darkness exists everywhere and in every action. The constant prickling fear of failure accompanies every step an engineering student takes. But the Goddess has the power of the darkest nights and ensures no harm befalls her devotees. You should believe in your strengths and even if there are days when you question the route forward, remember that the night is only a pit stop for the day.

  1. Mahagauri

On the eighth day of Navaratri, devotees pray to Mahagauri. She is the Goddess of knowledge and liberation, removing her devotees' sins through higher awareness and freedom from the chains of Karma. Knowledge is infinite, like the ocean. The average human’s pursuit of knowledge is time-bound, but those who reach great heights in life often have an unquenchable thirst for new learnings. They are forever curious about the changing world and unlearn and relearn everything. Continuous skill-building in innovative technologies is critical in deciding how many peaks you can scale in your career.

  1. Siddhidatri

On the last day of the Navaratri celebration, we offer our prayers to the Goddess Siddhdarti. She is the paragon of knowledge and helped impart knowledge to humans and devas alike. She represents unbound knowledge striving to remove the ignorance of her devotees. Skill-Lync helps engineering students learn industry-relevant skills that will allow them to develop a portfolio of domain-specific projects.
