Challenge

Wiring harness routing & packaging Rules Week 3 Challenge

Clips : This is the important component of the wiring harness which would be defined before wiring harness routing.Important parameters which has to be defined are :

  • Entry point and plane
  • Base Plane
  • Exit plane

Steps Followed:

  • Get the 3D part of the clip
  • Define the geometry parameters
  • Define part as support
  • Define entry point and plane
  • Define base and exit plane

Here we are going to take the p-clamp to finish the project

P-clamp:The P-Clamp is an electrical support device that helps the wire bundle maintain its fixation to the car or any other parts or components.Due to its bi-directional nature, the wire bundle can enter and escape from any direction.Determining the Entry and Exit points from both sides is therefore necessary.

Result:

Backshells:These are plastic molded parts used at wire entry side of connectors either for protection or to improve aesthetics. These are nor mandatory parts of wiring harness. Are always optional and driven by cost.

Steps Followed in Defining the backshell:

  • Get the 3D part of backshell
  • Define the geometric parameters
  • Define part as backshell
  • Backshell connection point
  • Define bundle connection point

Result:

Protective Covering:

Corrugates tubes, convolutes,Sleeves, and many other type of coverings are used to protect the wiring harness.

Creating protection covering:

  • Create covering 3D part
  • Create catalogues for covering
  • Add new part in catalogue
  • Apply covering on harness bundles from catalogue

5mm COT Tube

10mm COT Tube

15mm COT Tube

20mm COT Tube

35mm COT Tube

Creating catalogue:

from the file>new option select catalogue document then add family as slit_cot then save the catalogue. After creating the covering add each into the catalogue created.
