Week - 9 Material Modeling from Raw Data
AIM:
To extract data from the given material curve image using digitizer and model a new material from the data extracted and to conduct a tensile test analysis inorder to check whether the obtained data's are correct through graphs.
PROCEDURE:
EXTRACTION OF DATA:
The values of engineering stress and strain are obtained from the, "material curve image" whereas the second stress-strain curve of graphite iron casting selected and this is known as the raw data.

In this raw data the engg stress and engg strain are obtained directly from the image.
true strain= (1+ engineering strain)
effective plastic strain= total true strain - true stress/E
true stress = engg stress * (1+engg strain)
now the graph for true stress and effective strain are plotted.
From the obatined values the true strain, effective platic strain and true stress are calculated through excel.

The value of young's modulus E is 20.91E+06 and is converted in kg-mm-ms is in gpa E= 144GPA
Now the curve data is inputed into the dogbone specimen by directly opening the file in notepad++ or by entering datas directly into ls prepost.
now the section card and the material card are created as shown below.

Then the keywords such as SECTION, CONTROL_TERMINATION, BOUNDARY_SPC,VELOCITY & DATABASE etc., are set.

POST PROCESSING:

CONCLUSION:
Thus the extracted data from material curve is used to model a new material and values are inputed to conduct a tensile test thus obtaining graphs which indicates the material behaviour similar to the image and mathematical functions where carried out defining the curve.
