Challenge

Week 9 - Challenge 3 - Bumper

AIM :

To create the bumper design plastic component through the give class a surface. create the tooling axis for the give class a surface  by meeting the requirement of the draft angle and at the end perform the draft analysis on the model.

 INPUT GIVEN :

To create the bumper design plastic component through the offset class a surface using 3mm thickness of class b surface.

TOOLING AXIS :

1.Tooling axis is defined as such all the featres of the part can be manufactured easily.
2. SO  here we followed the below steps to create the tooling axis.
3.Create a point between the corner most edges of the bumperAxis is created on the point.
4. INtersection is taken with class A and Axis
5.Sketch is drawn on the intersection curves.
6.Two lines are drawn at the outmost ends.
7.Both the lines are bisected and a line is created at the middle.

DRAFT ANALYSIS :

  • Draft is done on the Class A surface.
  • Change it to material in customise view.
  • Click the Draft analysis tool and click the surface and align the compass to tooling axis.
  • 3 degree is the clearing angle
  • So here is photo of cleared (Green) draft.

CLASS B SURFACE :

  •  B surface is created by using the given Class A surface
Join all the faces except the fillets.
  • So we get separate 4 parts.
  •  Offset to 3mm beneath the class A surface.
  • All the 4 faces are offseted.
  • Boundry is taken and the below shown edges are extrapolated .
  •  The extrapolated faces are trimmed.
  • The edges are given with fillets so that the 3mm is maintained
Hence the B surface is formed.

CLASS C SURFACE :

  • Class A boundry is taken.
  • Boundry of the A is taken.
  • Sweep is used to form the C surface.
  • Be aware of the draft limit and make the sweep accordingly
Join the segmented parts to get a whole C surface

CLASS A AND C JOINING AND C AND A TRIMING WITH B SURFACE :

Surface C and A is joined.
Surface B is trimmed with C & A.

DRAFT ANALYSIS :

  • Draft is done on the Final Part.
  • Change it to material in customise view.
  • Click the Draft analysis tool and click the surface and align the compass to tooling axis.
  • 3 degree is the clearing angle
  • So here is photo of cleared (Green) draft.
