Week 9 - Challenge 1 - Base Bracket Design
BASE BRACKET
AIM:
Create the Base Bracket Plastic component through the given Class-A surface. To begin with, the tooling axis for the given Class A Surface should be created meeting the requirements of the draft angle and at the end perform the Draft analysis on the model.
GIVEN DATA:
Fig.1 Class A surface
STEP 1: Check the connectivity of the Class A Surface
STEP 2: Find the tooling axis of the component. The tooling axis is nothing but the mould opens or cavity opens. Along X is possible but expensive and Y is not possible. Z is the best possible tooling axis.
TOOLING AXIS:
Fig.2 Tooling Axis
Methodology:
· Create tooling axis along Z direction.
· Creating extract from the class A surface and UNTRIM the extracted surface to create the desired surface.
· And EXTRAPOLATE the UNTRIMED surface for getting additional surface to create the closed surface.
· TRIM the EXTRAPOLATED Surface for getting desired shape of the EXTRACTED surface.
· Create boundary in the given Class A surface for performing the SWEEP operation to create the Class C surface.
· JOIN the class A & class C surface together.
· TRIM the JOINED surface for create the Class C surface.
· TRIM the Class C surface and Class B surface to get the final output.

DRAFT ANALYSIS:
The Draft analysis is the way of finding the component whether it is producible or not in the production stage. The recommended draft angle is 3 degrees.

CONCLUSION:
The given Class A surface has been created as a closed surface and the draft analysis has been performed for whether the created product is producible or not.
The draft angle to the product is about 3 degree.
