Week 9 - Attachment Feature Creation (Ribs & Screw Boss) - Challenge 1
DOOR HANDEL:
AIM:
- To Create the Door Handle Component from the given Class-A surface.
- To Create the tooling axis for the given Class-A Surface meeting the requirements of the draft angle.
- To Attach B side Features in the component.
- To perform the Draft analysis on the model.
TOOLING AXIS -
The Tooling Direction is basically the direction that the mold pulls a part. The mold is built in two separate pieces, basically. You have a Cavity side and you have the Core side. The Core pulls apart from the Cavity and that's the Dye line or the Tooling Direction.

DRAFT ANALYSIS
Draft analysis is a method used in design to check whether the component created in CAD is manufacturable based on the draft condition applied. The main reason behind the draft analysis is the part manufactured should be easily removed from the mold. It also gives an idea of the draft angle from the tooling direction. Here we are giving a tooling direction in order to eject the component easily from the tool. The ideal draft angle given in automotive industries for plastic components is 3 degrees.

CLASS B SURFACE:
The surface which is present inner side of the component is known as the class b surface
it is created by the offset of class a surface and some pacthes are filled by some commends like fill, sweep, expolanate, etc

CLASS C:
It is the surface which we create to join the class a and class b surface with I(2.5to3mm) thickness.

RIBS&SCREW BOSS:
They are used to aid in the assembly of molded parts by providing a channel for a screw. Their primary use is to strengthen holes or slots in the surface present in the part model. Therefore, the thickness of the boss can be 1.5 mm per side.
GIVEN :

- Draft - 0.5 degrees on the walls of boss
- Thickness - Typically 40%* of the nominal wall at the base.
- Height to Diameter Ratio - 3:1
- Radii - 0.25mm maximum radii.

1)RIBS:- Ribs are usually design to Improve Strengtth of Plastic Part without increasing the thickness of the component.
2)Screw Boss :- It helps to screw component together.Screws are secondary features which is on B surface.Bosses are used to attached & assembly features of many component.

CONCLUSION:
- The Tooling axis and the SolidCAT part with B Side Features is created from the given Class A Surface and Draft Analysis is Performed.
