Challenge

Week - 8 - Morphing

AIM: to morph given models

Given data : there are two models provided to morph

1-sheet metal component

2-plastic trim of hand rest

Information :

Morphing is an adaptation of given shape to a new form. The geometry of a given concept model can be modified to required proportions to create new designs.

Morphing allows users to work on the FE mesh directly reducing the time taken to go back to the designer to update the geometry.

Procedure :

open the component to be morph in ANSA , in it go to MORPH deck >> BOXES >> NEW There will be a window pop up in it check GEOMETRY & ORTHO then we have to select the region which is to be morph to do it use left click to select or right click to deselect the selected region will be heilighted as shown below .

On middle click there there will be a green cuboid inclosing the selected volume , as in below picture.

By left click drag select upper four nodes once they turned into yellow like below picture ,

Do middle click the feature will follow the cursor and it will extend or compress according to cursors movement as in below example we extend it

Further crease such same BOXES and modify the shape of the model.

Our finished model looks like picture in below.

In second model we have trim of hand rest having multiple ribs and dog houses.as shown

We have to extend these features and that can be done by same procedure as above.and final model will looks as below

And do this on entire model

Some application :

1.its used to aqquaire small changes without going back to CAD department .

2.in car industries where where it helps in small design changes .

3.in changing hatch back cars into sedan

Learning outcomes

.at the end of this challenge

.i am able to make small changes in the geometry with morphing

.understand its importance and benefits

Conclusion :

Morphing allows us to make some changes in geometry or even FE without taking back the geometry for this minor changes in design department which save mush time.
