Week 8 - Challenge 6 - Core & Cavity Design
AIM
Create the Switch Bezel Plastic component through the given Class-A surface. To begin with, the tooling axis for the given Class-A Surface should be created meeting the requirements of the draft angle and at the end perform the Draft analysis on the model.
TOOLING AXIS
To create the tooling axis we need study the class A surface and there is no gap between the surface. Create the point on the surface at the centre is created and an axis system was inserted.
After create the tooling axis draw the two inclined lines along with tooling axis.
Then create the Bisecting line by using two inclined lines.
This bisecting line is our tooling axis.
Class B surface
I perform in this surface in 3 ways
1)Wall
2)Base
Wall
From class A surface i perform the 5 operation.
Extract,Surface trim,Extrapolate,Trim and Offset.
Offset done by 2.5mm.
Base
From class A surface i perform the 5 operation.
Extract,Surface trim,Extrapolate,Trim and Offset.
Offset done by 2.5mm.
Finally fillet operation as required dimension.
Class C
In class C extract the outer surface using the multipe extracts.
After use the sweep command with draft direction. Draft angle should under 3deg.
Perform the trim operation surface Class B from class C.
Closed surface:
Perform the close surface from part workbench from solid body.
Parting surface
Creating the core and cavity need to create the Parting surface.
Parting surface is the pressed surface.
A parting surface is a surface that separates the mold block into two parts – the core and the cavity.
Parting surface can able to ensure smooth mold release.
Procedure
1) Extrapolate the Class A which is extract from class A.
2) Need to trim with class B
Parting Line
It is a line that splits the mold into two parts – the core and the cavity.
Core Design
- Open the new plane (XY axis)
- Create the rectangular sketch and extrude it
- Fill the open surface by using fill command.
- Trim the parting surface with rectangle sketch
- Finally perform the join command to join both parting surface with trim surface.
Cavity design
- Create the rectangular sketch and extrude it
- Fill the open surface by using fill command.
- Trim the parting surface with rectangle sketch
- Finally perform the join command to join both parting surface with trim surface
Note: Need to create the separate closed surface for two separate bodies (Core and cavity)
