Week 8 - Challenge 5 - Door Trim Lower
DOOR TRIM LOWER
AIM: to make a model from the provided class-A surface.
INTRODUCTION:
CLASS-A SURFACE: a surface made by the designer which is given as input to the plastic modeler to work on. It is an aesthetic surface
and the outermost surface.
CLASS-B SURFACE: a surface below a certain thickness from the class-A surface is a class-B surface. This is the surface that contains
engineering aspects of a model.
CLASS-C SURFACE: a surface that joins class-A and class-B surfaces is a class-C surface.
METHODOLOGY:
In this model we have focused on the following things:
Tooling axis
Draft analysis
Class-B surface
Class-C surface
CLASS-A SURFACE which is know as input

then Tooling axis should be there ,
which is I mentioned in screenshot and also in cat.part

FOR CLASS-B SURFACES
We have divided the entire model into the base, side walls, inside side walls, and outer flange and worked on them one by one
Everywhere we follow the same procedure i.e. extract, un-trim, extrapolate, trim and offset.
First base, then side walls. To avoid confusion, we trimmed both together and made them one. Also, the fillet was given.
- Offest and move further but after offsetting some patches should be there

one by one we will fill that gaps and patches by multiple ways a
like multi surface command
etc
filled surface B1

fillled surface B 2

fillled surface B 3 which is last one patch

FOR CLASS-C SURFACES
In this model, unlike the earlier models, we have used a parallel tooling axis. Hence we cannot use the ‘with draft direction’ option under
sweep.
The C surfaces will mostly be created as shown below.

Inner curvature
C surface

FOR FINAL MODEL
Join class-A and class-C surfaces together.
A SURFCACE JOINED WITH C SURFACE

THEN TRIM WITH B SURFACE
AND FINAL PRODUCT IS HERE

DRAFT ANALYSIS

Conclusion - we have multiple ways to design a product like this but be carefull every way has its own analysis .
