Introduction to morphing deck in ANSA.

Objective:

Perform CAD model check and implement morphing deck.

Procedure:

1. Import the CAD model of the component into ANSA interface.

2. Perform an intial geometry check and fix the errors if any.

3. Visually check the orientation and rectify if any descrepancies arise.

4. A feature present in the model is morphed or changed shape. This is done by first creating a box around the feature or area to be changed.

To more refine the shape of the feature, the box can be divided into a number of smaller boxes using the split option.

5. The nodes created at the vertex of the box were used to move the feature and change its orientation and shape.

Conclusion:

Morphing is a very useful tool in the process of modification of an existing part. This could save time and complexity of the work can be reduced.

Morphing is used quite efficiently these days in the industry. Some of the examples where automotive companies have implemented morphing are Maruti Suzuki Swift-Swift Dzire, Honda Brio-Amaze, Toyota Etios-Etios Liva.

All the above examples are hatchback cars. Using morphing, trunk space is added to convert them in to sedans.
