Week 8

AIM : To fix gemetrical errors and execute morphing in the given component in ANSA .

PROCEDURE :

Fixing geometrical errors :

To import given model in ANSA.

Topology is applied to the component to stitch all parts together.

Next,geometry check is done on the model.

Geometrical errors are fixed by auto fix option. It can be done by selecting the errors , giving left click and using fix option.

Some triple cons cannot be removed and thus it can be fixed manually. By using topo-cons-release and selecting the triple cons , make them a single con. By topo , we can see single cons getting fixed and they converted into single cons.

Morphing :

Swtiching on to morphing module is done.

Using boxes-new generates a box on the selected geometry or entity.

Now moving to box morph we can change the shape. it can be done by selecting move in box morphing. Selecting the desired points is done and direction to which it has to change its shape is also done.

This gives us a change in shape.

Basically morphing is done to change or modify the shape of mechanical parts while FE without making it return to CAD. This system reduces us time. This improves the design solutions. Modification of shapes can also help in distribution of loads well.

In automobiles , morphing technique can be seen often. For example , volkswagen polo and vento only the boot differs as vento is a sedan , polo premium hatchback. here the shape of backside differes while the other companents are similar and retained.

LEARNING OUTCOMES : Came to know about how morphing is done in mechanical parts and how the shape can be changed or modified.

CONCLUSION : Geometry check was done and morphing was executed.
