Challenge

Week 4

Aim : Here aim is to extract the mid surface and execute meshing in a complex plastic surface and finally analye it.

Procedue : firstly the model is imported in ansa.

after importing the model the shell elemental length is set in perimeters. this fixes the perimeters with the given value.

geometry check is done in the model. topology is applied in the model and again rechecked. the surface that are dispatched get attached by topo and unecessary triple cons are removed by release and topo commands.

after clearing geometrical errors , mid surface generation is executed.

commands used in mid surface generation :

faces-middle

faces-offset

in complex surface and curved parts it is difficult to produce mid . so curves-middle option is used so that along the circumference curves are generated in the middle. by selecting the parallel outer cons , the above can be obtained.

after performing . we can use face-new-coons or fitted option to generated new mid surfaces along curves.

the generated mid has to be joined together for meshing and it is done by following commands :

faces-extend

faces-new-coons or fitted

cons-project and faces -new

Meshing : quality criteria is set before meshing .

meshing is executed in the mid surface that is generated by above procedure.

mesh generation - best or batch

to correct the mesh we use shell mesh- recons, reshape, smooth, fix quality and to remove trias we use elements-split or swap and the we use smooth.

Learning outcomes : generating mid from complex parts and use of vast commands was learnt.

Conclusion : mid surface and meshing with respect to above quality criteria were done.
