Week 7:- Base Unit Design Challenges 1

1.A base unit is the unit designed to mount all the other units(Clamp unit, Pin unit, rest unit etc.) of the tool, also other parts necessary for a tool like pneumatic valve box, trunking cable path will also be mounted on to a base unit

BASE PLATE :building. a flat supporting plate or frame at the base of a column, designed to distribute the column's weight over a greater area and provide increased stability.

PEDASTEL:A pedestal or plinth is the support of a statue or a vase, and of a column in architecture. Smaller pedestals, especially if round in shape, may be called ...

TRUCKING CHANNEL:Trunking Channel is a duct that carries all the electrical and pneumatic connections(wires and pipes) for units of the tool.

VALVE:A valve box is an enclosure designed to provide a safe environment for the components that comprise an irrigation system. It protects them from vandalism, the elements and damage due to mowers, string trimmers, etc. ... Some contractors still install valves above ground, believing this is a less costly way to go

EYE BOLD;Eye bolts can be used as a connection point for rigging, anchoring, pulling, pushing, or hoisting applications. Although eye bolts are commonly used in industrial applications, they're also commonly misunderstood or used incorrectly

FLOOR PLATE:: a plate (as of steel or iron) set in or forming part of a floor and sometimes provided with T slots to which heavy work and portable machine tools can be bolted to facilitate machining and erection. 2 : a wooden board lying flat on the floor and supporting the studs of a wall.

2.The engineering design process is a specific set of steps engineers use to organize their ideas and refine potential solutions to engineering challenges. Embarking an engineering design project is much more than simply describing the project; engineers must gain an understanding of all the issues surrounding a particular design challenge. These issues might include the need for the project, relevant social and economic conditions of the target population, and project constraints and requirements. Working through these non-technical contextual factors helps engineers generate useful, appropriate and successful design solutions.

Engineering Design Loop: The steps of the design process include: identify the need, research the problem, develop possible solutions, select the most promising solution, construct a prototype, test and evaluate the prototype, communicate the design, and redesign.

3.Dump units are used when we can not use normal units like clamp unit, pin unit etc. Due to some space constraints.

Dump unit is the complex unit to design due to space constains there is less space avilable & have to adjust all the parts in available space. It consist of dump cylinder to perform the operation of clamping & unclamping car panel.

3-2-1 PRINCIBLE,MASS, CYLINDER OPNING CLOSING TIME,CYLINDER OPEN,

5.A slide plate is a linear bearing that may be part of the expansion joints of bridges, high temperature horizontal ducts of water-tube boilers and other mechanical or structural engineering applications. ... The plates provide a surface with a low coefficient of friction which can be attached to a supporting structure.

6.WEIGHT CARRING CAPACITY,PUSH AND PULLFORCES,LOCKING MECHANISM,STOPPER BLOCKS,SENSOR UNIT,STROK,OPEN POSITION
