Challenge

Week 6-Meshing of Hood Challenge

Aim:- To mesh the inner panel hood component.

Objective:- Meshing of hood according to given criteria using Hypermseh.

Target Element Length = 5 Units

S.N Quality Criteria Value
1 Aspect Ratio 5
2 Skewness 45
3 Warping 15
4 Taper 0.5
5 Min. Length 2 Units
6 Max. Length 8 Units
7 Min angle Quad 45
8 Max angle Quad 135
9 Min angle Tria 20
10 Max angle Tria 120
10 Tria % 10

Procedure:-

1. Importing:-

Import the given CAD model into Hypermesh.given to the which file

2. Extraction of Mid surface:-

* Extract given inner panel of hood model is done

* First we make Inner extract as a current component. so that whatever i do is save in inner mid surface component.

* For this part we take only one side part for meshing and at the end we reflect this to other side.

* Then we Clean the Hinge midsurface for getting a appropriate mesh according to given criteria.

* For cleaning we use quick edit tools such as toggle and node to node surface split and remove and add points and others as well.

* For smooth and proper meshing we use cut geometry method in which we divide the geometry in different section according to give proper mesh.

* For arrange and get proper mesh we use tools such as remesh, rebuilt mesh, smooth, quality index etc.

* In this part we face a problem many times which is warpage issue , so clear the warpage we use translate node tool to clear the warpage. also we use node optimization tool.

* After done meshing of one side we reflect this mesh to other side because the component is symmetric , for reflect we use tool reflect and select the elements and meke duplicate and reflect to desired direction. ( tool - reflect)

Conclusion:- In this challenge we clean the different part of hood geometry and mesh them individually. we learn many essential tool for cleaning and meshing the geometry.
