Week 6 - Creating connection for Rear door

AIM : To achieve the Connections of given Car rear door model by using ANSA tool in Nastran deck and connections which includes seam weld, bolt , Rigid , Hinge etc..

PROCEDURE :

  1. Import the given Car rear door model into the Ansa, carefully study and understand the model.
  2. Check for the unmeshed surface if any unmeshed surface, mesh the same. Generally connections will be done to by considering the car door in closed position and mirror of window is also in closed criteria.
  3. Give the connections over the surface as RBE 2 Cluster rigid in nastran deck, where ever the bolts holes between two surfaces or weight reducing holes are required in components by selecting the closed loop nodes which are constrained to all DOF.
  4. Select the hinge connections over door joints with car body at opening and closing components as mentioned in the below image. These connections will be done in 2 noded RBE2 by unconstrained only in Z direction ( free to rotate in Z direction).
  5. Define the concentrated mass at door handle by assuming 0.1 kg at the COG of connections.
  6. Wherever the two components are required to be spot welded , define the component as spot weld by generating the COG of particular components and convert the point to spot weld by using the convert command. In connections, now assign the property ID of both components and create the property ID for spot weld and constrained at all DOF.
  7. At the periphery of mirrors and door body, generate the curves at outer periphery of mirror component and convert the curves to spot line by using the convert command. In connections command, now assign the property ID of both components ,space distance 10mm and create the property ID for spot line and constrained at all DOF.

Learning Outcomes:

A Clear understanding on Connections and its types.

Result & Conclusion:

Attached Ansa file consists of connections of car rear door and images are attached here.
