Week 6:- Clamp Unit & Pin-Clamp Unit Design Challenge
Design of Siwel clamp unit and a pin clamp unit
Objective:
The objective of this challenge is to design 3 different swiel clamp unit and a pin clamp unit.
Design methodology for swiel clamp unit:
- The clamp arm is designed first and then the clamp holder is designed. The clamp holder and the clamp arm is then positioned on the car panel.
- The clamp under arm is designed and the holder for the clamp under is made.
- The cylinder is the inserted and then positioned with the clamp arm holder.
- The under arm holder is then adjusted accordingly.
- The riser is then made and adjusted and positioned accordingly.
- The shims are then created and for where needed.
Design methodology for pin clamp unit:
- The pins are placed on the car panel
- The pin holder are made
- Clamp holder are made and assembled
- The clamp under arm holder is the made and assembled
- The cylinder is the addes
- the Under arm holder is then adjusted accordingly
- The riser is the created
- The necesart holes are made
- Cylinder:

-
Bush:
This part fits between the pivot point of the clamp holder. This is provided for the smooth travel of the clamp

-
Shims:
- This part are used to provide the space between the part for fine adjustment
- This consists of 2 shim of 0.5mm, 2 shims of 1mm and 1 shim of 2mm. Total thickness of 5mm.
- Indivisual shims can be removed and added for adjustment.

Clamp arm:
- This part holds the car panel in place.
- This part is in contact with car panel

Blade:

- This part holds the clamp under arm and the cylinder.
- The holder pivots on the this part
Riser:
This part is used for placing the assembly on the floor and extend it up to the car panel
