Aim:
Deploy different types of connections in to the components of the Rear door sub assembly.
Objective:
- The components of the sub assembly are arranged into separate PID’s.
- Create connection data from 3D points and curves into bolt, spot weld, seam line and spot lines.
- Deploy connection into the model and prepare the deck by creating rigids, Cbush, spot weld and other connections accordingly.
Procedure:
- The model is loaded into the ANSA workspace. The model is found to be having a single PID for all the components in the rear door sub assembly.
- The rear door model is rearranged in to separate PID’s.
- The connection data generated for the model.
- To represent the bolt between two components, a 3D point is converted into the bolt data and this data is provided is two or more components are found to have a matching holes, bolt data is generated.
- Spot line is generated at the location of weather strips at the boundaries of the glass components.
- Spot weld data is generated at various locations. This type of data is creted at overlaping components.
- The openings in the model are connected by creating the rigid RBE2 links to make the components more rigid.
- CONM2 is applied at the door handle location to represent the the door knob and a mass of 1e-4 is applied to the mass node. This is a concentrated mass element.
- The CBUSH elements are used to represent the weather strip connection between the glass and the body. A curve is created from the edges of the glass components and these curves are converted into the spot line. Suitable PID components are selected and the connection of “RBE3-CBUS-RBE3” type is used. The CBUSH elements are oriented with respect to Global co ordinate ID.
- This connection deploys RBE3 elements at the elements of the components and the CBUSH is created between these RBE3 elements while defining a default PID’s accordingly.
- Similarly for Spot weld connection, “RBE3-HEXA-RBE3” type is used and this connection generated a HEXA element between the RBE3 links of two components.
- In bolt connection, RBE2 links are generated as required. RBE2 cluster is used at head and Two node RBE2 is used to represent the stem of the bolt.
The bolt and stem at Hinge location is allowed for rotation about the global Z- axis, i.e. All DOF's except rotation about Z- axis of the bolt are constrianed
- Components are connected with the neighbouring components by creating the rigid links to ensure the rigid connection between the components.
Result:
The model is successfully prepared by establishing the appropriate connections.
Learning Outcomes:
Deployment of the various connection types along with their definition is learnt.
