Objective- Calculate the design wind loads for the bridges to be designed at Mumbai & Apply the wind load in Staad.pro.

Solution-

Basic Wind Speed – 44m/sec

Design Wind Speed

Vz= Vb x k1x k2 x k3 x k4

k1= 1.07

Since Category 2

So k2= 1.00

k3= 1.00

k4= 1.30

Vz=44x1.07x1x1.03= 61.204 m/sec

P_z= 0.6x (V_z)²

P_z= 0.6 x (61.204)² = 2247.58 N/m² or 2.247 KN/ m²

Based on the above wind pressure

Load is applied in Stadd Pro

Dimension of Pier 1.5mx1.5m

Longitudinal Girder= 0.35x 0.9 m

Transverse Girder= 0.3x0.7m

Span= 12m
