Week 5.1 - Mid term project - Solving the steady and unsteady 2D heat conduction problem

1)no of iterations(IMPLICIT)

Steady

jacobi - 208

GS - 112

SOR - 29

Unsteady(when dt = 1e-2)

jacobi - 1356 , timesteps - 56

GS - 838 , timesteps - 56

SOR - 750 , timesteps - 56

Here we calculated the number of timesteps along with the space iterations.

EXPLICIT - 407 (when dt = 1e -3)

2)By seeing the above graphs we can say that we that number of iterations we perform using jacobi is always greater than GS and SOR.

3)Also we can say that SOR has the least number of iterations.

4)Its also seen that steady state has less number of iterations ie it is more stable than transient or unsteady state.
