DC - DC converters applications in Electric Vehicle

1) In charger set-up: Charging takes place from AC to DC, AC current should be converted into DC but again a traction battery will be higher level.

2) Powering of Auxiliary load: Music system, Lighting, Dimmer, Air conditioning system. The power is not directly coming from traction battery. We have auxiliary battery providing required power level for operation.

3) HV battery and LV battery link: If we have low voltage battery and that has to be connected or using DC-DC charger set up. Here also we need DC - DC converter to step up or down the volatge between two energy sources.

4) Using low volatge battery when we are connecting high voltage load.

AC - DC converters applications in mobile charger, laptop charger.

DC - AC converters applications in locomotives (25kV AC to DC), Home inverters and UPS.
