Week 4: Project - Steady state simulation of flow over a throttle body

#Aim: To setup Steady state simulation of flow over a throttle body.

#Introduction:

Here for flow over a throttle body,we have a Elbow having throttle valve ,similar to a butterfly valve. That

throttle is placed inside elbow in such a position ,it will allow maximum flow rate. It's a Steady state case

so throttle will remain in the same position,it will not rotate.

#Geometry:

1.Geometry Flagged by Boundaries.

2.Mesh:

Embedded layers near throttle can be seen.

#Results:

1.Mass flow rate @ outlet line plot:

2.Average velocity @ outlet line plot

3.Total cell count:

4.Total pressure @ outlet line plot:

5.Pressure contour plot:

From the above pressure plots ,it can be seen that

Before throttle pressure is more (shown by red colour region) and throttle then cause pressure drop.So behind it,pressure is less.

Region where fluid is leaking near throttle, pressure is low(shown by blue colour region) becuase velocity is high there.

6.Velocity contour:

It can be viewed from the plot ,that region where fluid is passing (just above throttle) velocity is more(red colour region).

As throttle is obstructing flow,so in front and back region of throttle in the direction of flow, velocity is less(shown by blue colour region).

#Conclusion:

We saw fluid(air) flow inside elbow having throttle placed in a position such that, it is allowing maximum fluid to pass through it.

Results obtained are feasible, where we are supposed to get Low velocity and High pressure near throttle,we got that.
