Challenge

Week - 4 - crash box simulation

Assumed data for simulation :

material - aluminium of 1.2 and 1.5 mm thickness

time - 5 sec

SOLUTION :-

Deliverables of simulation

Below animations and graph plots and images are belongs to deliverables asked in crash box simulation .

1. crash box simulation for 1.2 mm

a.) Animation image of final simulation

b.) Total energy

Total energy is decresaing after the collision to the rigid wall

c.) internal energy

internal energy is incresing at time of collision and gradually decreasing it reaches highest at point of 1 sec

d.) kinetic energy

As we see kinetic energy is opposite if internal energy as per plot it reaches the min value of 1.8 at time of 1 sec

Cross Sectionl force

Acceleration plot of a node in the middle of the crashbox -along its length ( 1.2 thickness)
Node no 4864

Acceleration plot of a node in the middle of the crashbox -along its length ( 1.5 thickness)
Node no 4864

stress/strain plots of 1.2/1.5mm crashboxes.

maximum stress generated in 1.2 mm crash box is 5.186e3

maximum stress generated in 1.5 mm crash box is 5.477e3

Acceleration plot of the crash box 1.2 mm / 1.5mm

maximum acceleration generated is 14.6 g/mm `square` of 1.2 mm thickness

maximum acceleration generated is 14.6 g/mm of 1.5 mm thickness

Result : From the above graph plots and animations are belongs to crash box simulation . From the above result we cannot find any strain in the crash box.
