Week - 3 Drop test Challenge
AIM: In this given model to find the stress (von-mises stress ) and internal energy for the mobile phone by droping on the floor with a velocity and to plot the graphs for internal energy and stress for the various velocity values at different instances ?
EXPLANATION :
Given model
Procedure For The Model Simulation
- Assigning the materials for the model.
- Assigning section and material part for the model.
- Assigning the velocity and load etc..,
running the simulation as impact or load etc.., in this case we run the impact simulation on the plate with the mobile .
Material used for simulation
| Density | youngs modulus | Poisoons Ratio | yield stress | |
| Bottom plate | 7800 kg / m3 | 210 Gpa | 0.3 | - |
| Aluminium | 2600 kg/m3 | 76 Gpa | 0.23 | 170 |
Stress simlation with impact velocity 8mm/sec
from the above simulation we can observe that maximum stress devoloped at the centre of the mobile.
| Velocity | Stress | Kinetic energy(max) | Internal energy(max) | Total energy |
| 8 mm/sec | 2.656e+01 | 875 joules | 25joules | 902 joules |
By the above graph contour we can observe the kinetic energy will drops at 2.5 sec of time to the 875
joules and reach to its original value 915 joules after equllibrium state .
Kinetic Energy Graph Plot
Total energy wil gets droped to 900 joules @time of 3.5 seconds after the impact of the mobile to the floor .
Total Energy Graph Plot
internal energy will increase to 25 joule @ the time of 2.5 sec @ the time of impact
Internal Energy Graph Plot
CONCLUSION:
From the above simulation we are intrested to find the maximum stress and internal energy of the mobile at the time of impact .The stress and internal energyof mobile has been plotted in graph at different points with respective to the time .
