Week-4 Challenge WOT Condition Part-2

1.

(a) Mapped - This uses a lookup table where engine data are pre-defined for various engine characterisctics based on which the internal combustion takes place.

(b) Dynamic - For to do this we will need component level data of different engines sub-parts to analyze the combined effect of all these parts on an engine

Hev ref application -> Passenger car -> Electric plant -> Motor -> right click on mapped motor blockset -> Subsystem and model ref -> convert to -> variant subsystem -> again right click on mapped motor blockset -> variant -> open -> Motdynamic

Hev ref application -> Passenger car -> Electric plant -> Generator -> right click on mapped gen blockset -> Subsystem and model ref -> convert to -> variant subsystem -> again right click on mapped gen blockset -> variant -> open -> gendynamic

Hev ref application -> Passenger car -> Engine -> Simapped engine -> right click on Simapped engine -> Subsystem and model ref -> convert to -> variant subsystem -> again right click on Simapped engine -> variant -> open -> dynamic engine

2.

Vehicle speed is integrated to get the miles travelled

Battery power is converted to equivalent fuel power and the

Battery capacity to (vol. of fuel) / gallon

This is then added with fuel flow and converted to fuel quantity

Now, the miles travelled is divided by fuel quantity used to get Miles per Gallon (MPG)

To model fuel flow, following factors are considered :

(a) Vehicle speed

(b) Fuel vol flow

(c) Battery power

WOT(grade=0 ; wind 'v' =0 ; T=30s) WOT(grade=10 ; wind 'v' =20; T=30s)
Vehicle velocity After 5sec increases gradually and reaches more than 60mph Reaches a max. velocity of 34mph
Engine speed Fluctuates between 8000 -3000 rpm and started to increase after 6000 rpm Varies between 7000-4000 rpm and stabilzes between 6000-5000 rpm until the battery current reaches '0'
Engine Torque Starts to reduce once the RPM starts to increase Is maintained at max level until the battery is discharged
Battery current Between 17-22sec it was possible to charge and discharge No charging happens
SOC Decreases and maintains at 72 after 17sec Constantly decreases and reaches 70 at 20 sec
Miles /gallon This driving method gives 18 miles per gallon This driving method gives 8 miles per gallon

WOT(grade=0 ; wind 'v' =0 ; T=30s)

[Hev]

WOT(grade=0 ; wind 'v' =0 ; T=30s)

[Ev]

Vehicle velocity After 5sec increases gradually and reaches more than 60mph Vehicle velocity starts to increase from 2sec and reaches a max. of 60mph at 12sec
Engine / Motor speed Fluctuates between 8000 -3000 rpm and started to increase after 6000 rpm No fluctuation in motor speed, runs at constant 6000 rpm
Engine Torque Starts to reduce once the RPM starts to increase Falls down suddenly once the speed reaches max. RPM
Battery current Between 17-22sec it was possible to charge and discharge After 13sec the current is constant 40A
SOC Decreases and maintains at 72 after 17sec
Miles/gallon This driving method gives 18 miles per gallon 42 miles per gallon
